I guess I just fascinated with them and their graceful movement.....and maybe because it is always challenge me to capture their expression on that special moment.....After that, Orton, Picasa or Photoshop became my special digital dark-room to enhance their beauty....

Tuesday, 5.41 PM...I need to fly to Memphis in 2 hours.....so lazzzzyyy to movee...arrrgggghhh....

Enjoy........

I was going crazy over HDR for the last several weeks. Tried several methods to get a good one. Well, Photomatix still the best one, eventhough the price for this software a bit pricey. You can also use Photoshop CS2 or 3 ( I am about to try the CS3 though) , but they said still not as good as Photomatix.

You can also use photochances.com, especially if you only have 1 picture, not 3 or more pictures ( bracketing system , with 1 or 1/3 stops ) as you should if you want to get a HDR picture.

Or you can try also to change the exposure of the with light with leveling in Photoshop, make 1 single picture into 3 or more different pictures, before you process it with CS2 or CS3 or Photomatix to make it HDR.
For me, many times I found myself back and fort between Photomatix and CS2 for smoothing the end result.

Note: The best way is to take the pictures on RAW files, rather than JPEG.

BTW ( cut and paste from this website http://www.vanilladays.com/hdr-guide/ ):
HDR = HDR means ‘High Dynamic Range’. Using software like Photomatix you can create images with a more detail in the highlights and shadows than you can with a normal photo from todays digital cameras. Its similar to the old technique of exposure blending.
Taking one photo for the sky and one for the ground, then merging them both together in Photoshop.
HDR takes it a step further by increase the amount of detail in the image and allows you to create some unique photos. You can use it carefully to create natural looking photos or you can use it creatively to create atmospheric and emotive photos. The choice is yours as to how you process the end result.
bla..bla..bla.....more click into the website

Another useful website how to do it http://stuckincustoms.com/2006/06/06/548/ . The photographer Trey Ratcliff is a brilliant person. He was the one who made this HDR styles so popular among world photographer. Not to mention that actually he only has one good eye, since his right eye went blind a long time ago.
His personal collection of HDR pictures http://www.treyratcliff.com/

Enjoy my HDR-attemp collection pictures...
:-P

Just having fun with Photoshop and HDR . I only use Photoshop if I want to change it into things like these. Otherwise just Picasa is enough...

To take the potrait of people ( sometime they called it headshot photography) and finding the likeness and beauty within, for me its more difficult than to take the landscape or flowers pictures. Because to capture the ekspression of that particular person sometime its a challenge, u must be able to capture it on that very moment. Especially if you do it from a quite distant and that person keep moves..
Well, I tried my best then, and these are the result. Most of them are my friends, And somehow I could charmed them enough and persuaded them for their pictures taken by me. :-}

The How To Do Good Potraiture, go here http://www.photographytips.com/page.cfm/368

Hi..all, just want to share it to u all how to take this kind of pictures. Since I have so many compliment ( thank you very much) and some personal request how to take this kind of pictures.
So with hesitant, cuz I am just learned about photography recently....I will share some tricks and tips....
Keep in mind , this is not a lecture, since I am not yet a professional one.

First, from my view, u don't need to have a DSLR camera to be able to take this pictures. Some of myprevious pictures of flowers http://dwitrazaky.multiply.com/photos/album/23 , I took it just with a Point and Shoot camera ( Olympus widezoom something...) .As long as u know how to use it, thats fine. Just practice it first, till u could develop some skill how to get a good angle, how to maintain the focus, how to develop some sense pf colour etc...bla..bla..bla..
Beside most of PnS cmaera already equipped with some feature for Macro shoot, too. So just use it, and master it.
The result maybe as not as good like if u use the DSLR, though. With those blur effect, etc. But if u already master it, then later on u could move into DSLR camera then.

And for some of u who already have DSLR camera, I use Canon Digital Rebel XT with a special lense Tamron 75-300mm LD Tele Macro f/4.0-5.6. This is a very good lense that will enable u to take pictures, with those blur effect background. But make sure u got the focus right, otherwise it will be blur on the front but a crisp picture on the background . I think other lenses too u can use it, some Quantaray or Sigma, as long as they are Tele lenses with Macro ability. Not necessary 300 mm , though. Maybe some 200 mm can do it , too.

Some rules of thumb:
- If u could, take the pictures of the flowers either in the morning or in the afternoon, so the sunlight won't be too harsh or too bright. And it will give u those soft effect . It will be much better if u do it after a morning or the night before's shower's rain. It will give u those dreamy efect of water glistening on that petals. ( Next batch of picture, I ll show it to u this dreamy effect).

- It ll be better if u take a picture of flowers not the ones that grouped together, but a single ones. Make sure u have a contrast background, not the one with the same colour of the flowers. Usually I try to find a single flower with a green branches or a green bushes as a background.

- Try to take a different angles, not just the one with the same level of ur eyes. If u need too, just lay flat on ur stomach, or sit down or whatever position necessary. Try to take from under the petals, too. Don't be shy.

- Don't ever use flash. I hate flash. Instead use whatever natural light that available. I suggest if the sunlight is quite bright, just use ISO 200. Or if the sky kind of gloomy, use ISO 400 .Set the white balance into Auto White Balance.
For PnS, set into Macro setting.
For DSLR, set camera mode into P mode, if u r using Tamron lense like I did, put it into Autofocus, Macro setting. Then try to focus as good as possible. The first time it will be difficult, made me dizzy. Sometime u don't even sure whether its already focus or not. But just do it anyway. Make sure the focus is the nearest flower/s or the ones that the closest with ur camera.

- Take the pictures as much as possible. For my case, I always make sure every shoot that I take from the same angle or position, I will take at least 3 or 4. It will give some backup pictures as well. From my experiences, for the last several months before I mastered it, it always 20 : 5 or 6 . Or basically from 20 pictures that I took, only 5 or 6 came out good.

- Find a flowers with a striking combination of colours. Or just some with a bright colours.

- For me, I always finalize all my pictures with some touch of digital enhancement. Not too much, though, cuz u might lose the quality of the pictures. Also a good photographer won't use too much "some lied effect" unless u want to make it into different kind of artform ( not a real pictures anymore).
I use Picasa from Google, unles want to make it into watercolour painting, then I use Photoshop.
The features that I use usually : "I'm Feeling Lucky " or just " Auto Contrast" , then if u need u could use the "Sharpen Effect" and use a bit Tuning ( some highlight or shadow n color tmeperature).
Make sure u know that a good pictures always have POV/POI = Point of View. Just cropped the things that make ur pictures "unclean" or not part of the nice picture.

Well, I think thats all...Hopefully this will help u all.
BTW : the same friend challenges me to develop my Flowers's Pictures Collection into a calendar as well for next year. So , wish me luck then....

A bigger sizes of these pictures u could see it on http://www.flickr.com/photos/dwitrazaky/
The first collection , u could see it on http://dwitrazaky.multiply.com/photos/album/29

Just love to see they performed, those colourful outfit, or those voices and movement......must capture them, and save it forever.....here...( deuh..kesannya deh...sebenarnya seh kebanykan lagi pas suntuk aja, pulang ngajar kelayapan...Trus pas ada delegasi Indo, gw bantu2 jadi fotografer.., walau narsis jalan juga.....) enjoyyyy....
Note: It was difficult to freeze the movement of the dancers, especially the Indian dancers. They moved so fast.....

Spring always a season that intoxicated me, since the smell of fragrance flowers are everywhere. I always love flowers, never failed to give some buzz od spirit when I really need it. But this time, I am more than able to capture those beauties in more artsy way. Enjoy.....( note : those tulip series was a mistake, since I forgot to change the ISO 800 that I had been using it for indoor pictures. But instead it gave a bright sunny appearances to those series)...Lucky me..I guess...

When I feel restless, I always imagine that the world turning pink..just for me.
