Before you guys read all this stuff, I want you all to remember that I am not a great photographer yet. Plan to be one someday, but still learning. Messing up many things on the process, but won't back up . Just do whatever it takes.....if there something is/are wrong, I just stop, chill'in a bit, and then move forward.
BTW, most of this writing taken from many resources, copy and paste and put another spicy from me...enjoyyyy
Taken from http://www.digital-cameras-help.com/photography/articles/how-to-take-beautiful-landscape-pictures/All the pictures are my pictures, don't use it without my permission. And I put it on alphabet order corresponding with the notes. How to Take a Beautiful Landscape Pictures.
What is the Subject of Your Photograph?
By knowing what kind of subject you want to take, or by knowing what kind of vision you want the viewer to see, it is more easy to take a beautiful landscape picture. And the answer turns out to be more questions... is it the mountain range in the background, or the rock structure in the foreground? Or, is it the top of the rock ?. Our challenge is to compose pictures of landscapes in such a way that the subject is presented the way you want it to be. You almost have to learn a new way to really see what is in front of you.
Fill the frame for dramatic effect
Look carefully at the picture you’re framing before you click the button. Experiment by moving the camera up and down, side to side. Tilt the camera to various angles and see what it shows you. Fill the frame with the object that interests you most. If your digital camera has an LCD screen, you can use it to improve your sensitivity to the entire scene.
Change your perspective
There’s no need to shoot everything from a standing position. Sometimes sitting, crouching or getting higher can produce a more interesting shot.
note from me : (A) Framing is important, because the way you frame your picture eventually will drag the focus of your viewer into the POI ( Point Of View ). How you frame the picture ? By using the branches, the rocks, the grass, the trees , the light pole etc. But make sure whatever your POI, make sure you capture it the whole thing, try not to make it only half or 1/3 etc. Unless you use it as a framer, not POI. And don't forget if you can, try to be aware of the foreground and/or background of your picture. For this sample picture, I used the colorful leaves to frame it and took it from an angle by climbed into the tree.
(B) Also angle is the one that usually will give some drama on your picture. What make the difference between a photographer and a tourist, is the way they take the angle of their pictures. If you need to, just take from below, from the extreme right/left, from above ( up on the tree maybe) etc. And don't forget, you could take it vertical or horizontal to get a best picture. that Lake picture that I took for this sample, I took it by laid down on my stomach. So I could capture the edge of the lake in front of me, to frame the picture.
Color
The presence of colors is probably the best hint of a great photography potential. Red is the most pleasant color for the eye. If you manage to find this color or a hue in nature, even in small spots, set up your tripod and prepare your camera. If you also pay attention to the position of these colored spots in the image, it is very possible that you obtain a good picture.
Note: ( C ) I love colors so much , especially on landscape pictures. If you have a chance to see my collection, you will see most of it full with colors. You could choose either with some colors that compliment each other with same hues ( most of it blue, or grey or green etc) or with some dramatic colors that very different /against from each other on the color chart.
For increased drama, you can easily convert color photos to black and white by using your favorite image-editing program. With some camera models you can even do this in the camera before downloading the image to your computer. Once the image is on your computer, you can use your image-editing program to adjust contrast and brightness. Silhouettes look terrific in black and white, as do old buildings. The effect adds drama.
note: ( D ) Well.....confession, I am not really good on converting landscape pictures into B?W. why ? Maybe because I like color. But my best friend, Nina who also photographer, she is very good on B/W. But from my experiences, to be able to convert some landscape pictures into B/W and look good , the picture must have at least some a very strong POI or strong lines, or dramatic horizon or the combination all the subjects on that pictures will be look dramatic on B/W.
Clouds
The most beautiful ones are the clouds above the horizon, close to the landscape area that you have in view. At twilight or crack of dawn these clouds may have astonishing colors. They may create a dynamic and complementary center of interest that may give intensity to the center of interest in the picture.
note: ( E) I love clouds, especially on bright day. Blue skies with a dramatic moving clouds, you don't need a lot of POI for this kind of picture. Or even the clouds when we have the thunderstorm over the beach. Thats very dramatic.
Calmness
A calm, windless atmosphere may sometimes be very useful for the landscape photographer. The wind alters flowers, leaves, trees, grass, lakes and water basins. Do you take pictures of the landscape you will probably not see very soon holding the camera in your hand? It would probably be more cautious to use a tripod, preferably a good one.
Note: (F) Had a several occasions when all were perfect, but suddenly there were a wind and some things that you will use to frame the picture suddenly moves . What you gonna do? Well..you could wait till the wind wind down a bit, or if you have a tripod take it anyway but increase the shutter speed to freeze the picture. And focus the camera into something for POI that very solid and doesn't move.
Weather
Bad weather may be very good for taking pictures. Fog, mist, snow or rain may give fantastic power and impact to some every day landscapesNote: (G) If you can and already had a bit experiences, just go ahead and take the picture. Make sure, of course that the camera doesn't wet .Take it from some shelter or use the tripod, it it won't shake. Sometime the result is dramatic.
Geographical position
Whenever possible, try to place yourself at north or (especially) south from the landscape you want to take pictures of, because you will thus benefit from lateral light. This sort of light emphasizes the relief and textures, the shapes and shadows.
Note: (H) I prefer to use the natural light. Since most of professional photographer especially for landscape picture will try to make it as natural as possible. So you need to learn to use the natural light, which direction come from, which subject get a good natural light, is the light will give more or less drama on your picture etc.
Close-up
The best landscapes are usually those containing a powerful close-up. Trees, bushes, rocks, bunches of grass or moss, dunes of sand, flowers, almost every subject may be used to create a particular depth in the image. Such a detail may give a three-dimensional illusion, which is very important for the impact of the image.
note: (I) Very useful especially for framing the picture. The close up of the framer will help the POI look more dramatic. And also help the transition from the closest subject into the faraway subject ( Dept of Field).
Reflections
Peaceful waters offer perfect occasions for taking mirror images. This effect may be used in order to double the beauty of a landscape.
note: (J) I love taking picture of reflection on water. Especially on bright day , with a blue skies. But usually you only can take it before 10 AM or after 3 PM when the sun light is not that harsh.Make sure you already know the direction of the natural light.

"It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things. But in photography... everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary." - David Bailey, In "Face," (London), Dec 1984
I don't photograph the world as it is. I photograph the world as I would like it to be. Monte Zucker.
